Right from the beginning of the pandemic, we all have come across various memes on coronavirus and physical distancing. And those who behave ignorantly towards the pandemic is preferably called ‘Covidiots’. In a similar manner, a meme on physical distancing in India is going viral on the internet where a bunch of people failed to follow social distancing. Not only this but they were also seen doing something imbecilic.
Irrespective of memes, social distancing is a serious issue. Most of the shops in India have marked boxes and circles on the floor for people to maintain social distancing. But the meme shows people sitting very closely on a footpath, but in actuality, they were supposed to stand in queue with circles marked at 2-feet apart. And instead of standing in a queue in the given circles, people were seen placing their footwear in their respective spots. And it’s bizarre how people think they are following social distancing by this concept.
While this may be the lack of discipline, it can also be a lack of awareness and illiteracy. On the other hand, we also have people who are convinced that the epidemic isn’t really a problem, which on the contrary is a serious problem indeed. It should be clear to anybody at this point that Covid 19 is a deadly virus, and social distancing is the most powerful and only weapon against the virus we now have. Nevertheless, the meme has bought in laughter as well as anguish among netizens.
