Ben Stokes, the all-rounder from Rajasthan Royals, has been ruled out of IPL 2021 after he got his finger injured in the team’s tournament opener against Punjab Kings. This is a big shock for RR fans as Stokes has proved his worth across all formats.
Royals’ new director of cricket Kumar Sangakkara believes Stokes is “exactly the type of player any side would want”. Right now, Stokes is suffering from a broken index finger on the left hand while taking a tumbling catch to dismiss Chris Gayle off the bowling of Riyan Parag.
Rajasthan Royals, who are also in the loss of Jofra Archer to a hand injury, is like a huge setback with Stokes rule out. The backup overseas batsmen in the RR squad are David Miller and Liam Livingstone.
