SRH traded Shikhar Dhawan with Delhi Capitals and took Vijay Shankar, Shahbaz Nadeem, and Abhishek Sharma in return. Nadeem didn’t get enough opportunities, to be honest. Abhishek Sharma is a young talent and needs to be nurtured properly. Vijay Shankar is the only person who got umpteen number of opportunities but failed to make use of them. Still, the team management is believing in his abilities and selecting him in every match.
Sunrisers Hyderabad played three games this season and lost all of them. Shankar also played all three games and didn’t do anything significant. Though his performance was quite good with the ball in a couple of matches, his batting was below-par level. As a player who represented the national side, Shankar must have taken the responsibility of leading the fragile middle-order of SRH. Instead, he threw his wicket cheaply in all the games.
The same is the case in the last edition as well. Shankar performed only in one match and still got a chance to play many league games. Fans are trolling the team management for selecting him every time, even though he is not doing well. They think it is enough now and as SRH is in deep trouble, Shankar needs to pave way for someone experienced like Kedhar Jadhav.
