The sensational case trial of George Floyd’s death is completed and the former officer Derek Chauvin has been convicted on all charges. Former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin is found guilty and faces up to 40 years in prison for second-degree murder, up to 25 years for third-degree murder, and up to 10 years for second-degree manslaughter.
George Floyd died in 2020 May after Derek Chauvin pinned him down with his knee on Floyd’s neck while he pleased multiple times, ‘I can’t breathe.
Right after the verdict was revealed, the crowds outside the courtroom chanted ‘justice’ and ‘Black Lives Matter.’
Judge Peter Cahill read and confirmed the verdict with the jury and he said technical steps including sentence scheduling will be made in eight weeks’ time. 12 jurors of five men and 7 women found Derek Chauvin guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter in George Floyd’s death.
Judge Peter Cahill granted the prosecution’s motion to have Derek Chauvin’s bail revoked. Chauvin was taken into custody and was taken in handcuffed.
