Rajasthan Royals cricketer Riyan Parag is known for his unique celebrations in the Indian Premier League. Whenever he scores a half-century or takes a catch, Parag celebrates by performing traditional Assamese Bihu dance. He gave a break to his customary celebration last night and came up with a selfie celebration.
In the match held against Kolkata Knight Riders last game, Parag took the catch given by Pat Cummins in the 20th over. Right after catching the ball, Parag celebrated with a mock selfie moment with his teammate Rahul Tewatia. This unique celebration by Parag and Tewatia brought smiles to the faces of cricket fans. Netizens have also trended this celebration on social media. While some loved the celebration, others felt it was a bit overboard.
Parag took the catches of Rahul Tripathi and Pat Cummins in this game. KKR posted a low score of 133 after batting first. With the help of Sanju Samson, RR managed to chase the total inside 19 overs and won the match by 6 wickets. This is the fourth straight loss for KKR this season. RR will next take on Mumbai Indians on April 29.
Meanwhile, Parag also clarified that his celebration is not meant to disrespect anyone and he is just enjoying his game. Here is his tweet.
Here are the other responses to his celebration:
