Finally, IPL Teams Pledge Donations To Battle Covid Crisis

The cricketing world is coming together to help India in fighting the ongoing second wave of the coronavirus. It is already known that cricketers Pat Cummins and Brett Lee have contributed to the COVID-19 relief funds. Now, Sachin Tendulkar and IPL franchises Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals have joined the list.

Rajasthan Royals donated $1 million (Rs. 7.5 crores) to support the people who are impacted by COVID-19. The official handle of the team tweeted, “Rajasthan Royals announce a contribution of over $1 million from their owners, players, and management to help with immediate support to those impacted by COVID-19. This will be implemented through @RoyalRajasthanF and @britishasiantst.”

Delhi Capitals teamed up with a couple of NGOs and donated Rs. 1.5 crores for the procurement of essential medical supplies. The official handle tweeted, “Delhi Capitals and its patrons, the @JSWFoundation & GMR Varalakshmi Foundation are offering financial support amounting to INR 1.5 Cr to NCR based NGOs, the @Hemkunt_Fdn, and the @UdayFoundation.” “The donations will be used to procure essential medical supplies, ranging from oxygen cylinders and concentrators to COVID Wellness Kits,” it further added.

Meanwhile, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar contributed to Mission Oxygen, which is launched to raise funds for importing oxygen concentrators. In his official statement, Tendulkar wrote, “It is heartening to see how people are rising to the occasion. A group of 250+ young entrepreneurs has launched Mission Oxygen to raise funds for importing oxygen concentrators and donating them to hospitals across the country.”

“I’ve helped by contributing to the cause and hope that their effort soon reaches out to many more hospitals across India. Your support when I was playing was invaluable and helped me succeed. Today, we have to stand together behind everyone that is working hard to fight this pandemic,” he further added.
