Citing the huge spike in Covid19 cases across the nation, the online food delivery platform Swiggy on Monday announced a four-day work week for employees for the month of May. Besides, the employees were also given the flexibity to choose the four days they want to work in a week.
Swiggy says the new decision has been made keeping in mind the physical and mental wellbeing of its employees. The month of May is predicted to be recording an alarmingly high number of cases and therefore, the company has offered its employees a 4-day work week.
“Please decide the 4 days that each of you would work and utilize the extra day to take rest, take care of yourself, take care of your family and friends,” said Girish Menon, the head of HR at Swiggy.
Moreover, Swiggy has set up a pandemic support mechanism and an emergency team solely to assist its employees in these difficult times. Additionally, the company is all set to provide vaccination coverage for all its employees and their family members. “Employees or their family members, who require quarantine spaces will be given access to temporary facilities with necessary nursing support,” Swiggy said.
As a gesture of respect, Swiggy also opened an in-house app and support hotline for its employees where they can access hospital beds, ICUs, plasma and oxygen cylinders, ambulance support, and a few other emergency services via Swiggy’s volunteers and healthcare providers.
