US: Sanitizer & Cigarette Put A Car Aflame

A car owner in Maryland had to leave his car burning in the parking lot after using the hand sanitizer while smoking.

The firefighters have been trying to put the flames on the burning car down in the viral video. According to the reports, the unnamed driver was smoking a cigarette and then started using the hand sanitizer which immediately ignited into a big flame and burned up the car. The incident happened at the Federal Plaza Shopping Center in Rockland.

In an unventilated car, using hand sanitizer and smoking a cigarette is a bad combination. The hand sanitizer contains around 60 percent ethanol or 70 percent isopropanol, both highly flammable. The person was immediately moved to the hospital and was treated for minor burns. The vehicle was burnt beyond repair.
