Delhi High Court dismissed the lawsuit filed by yesteryear actress and environmentalist Juhi Chawla against the setting up of 5G wireless networks in the country. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakh, saying the plaintiffs abused the process of law.
Earlier, the High court asked the actress why she did not approach the government to oppose the 5G wireless network establishments, before filing a lawsuit in the court. The High court called her lawsuit an attempt ‘for publicity’.
“The suit is dismissed. Plaintiffs abused the process of law. Costs of ₹ 20 lakh is imposed on plaintiffs,” the court said, directing Juhi Chawla and others to deposit court fees.
The court also ordered action against the people who disrupted the virtual hearing on Wednesday. Many fans of Juhi Chawla joined the virtual hearing and interrupted the same by singing old songs of her.
The court further said, ‘It appears the suit was for publicity. Juhi Chawla circulated a link of the hearing on social media,’, also asking the Delhi police to identify the rogue singers.
