Here Is BCCI’s New Blueprint For IPL

IPL 2021 remains unfinished due to the rise in coronavirus cases in India. The second half of the tournament will be held in the UAE in September. Meanwhile, it looks like BCCI has already prepared a blueprint for the next edition of the league. It is confirmed that two extra teams will be added from the next season. The rules for the mega auctions, player retentions, and salary purses are also fixed.

As per the reports, tender for the new teams will be announced in August and the bidding starts in October. Apparently, these are the organizations that are showing interest in buying the new franchises: Kolkata-based RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, the Adani group from Ahmedabad, Aurobindo Pharma Ltd from Hyderabad, and the Torrent Group that operates from Gujarat.

Coming to the retention, teams will be given a chance to retain a maximum of four players. It should be either three Indians and one overseas player or two Indians and two overseas players.

Apparently, the salary purse of the teams will be increased to Rs. 90 crores. Additionally, in the next three years, the amount will rise to Rs. 100 crores ahead of the 2024 season. The teams have to spend at least 75% out of this amount. The mega auction is expected to be held in February next year.

It seems that BCCI is also planning to conduct a media auction towards the end of this year. The media rights are expected to witness a surge of 25%.
