Peddi Problem Seems More Serious: Will the Big Meeting Help?

The ‘Rental Vs Percentage System’ issue is blowing out of proportions. Both the sides have dragged the matter too far that things have reached Personal Insults.

So far three Pressmeets have happened and tomorrow there will be a joint meeting of Producers, Distributors, and Exhibitors in the Film Chamber. All eyes are on this meeting to see if this issue will get a resolution.

Ram Charan’s Peddi is releasing on June 4th and all eyes are on this film to revive the industry and Theaters ecosystem which have gone bone dry since January.

Ever since the issue started, no one really understood the gravity of the situation. Many thought the issue is only about 22 Single Screens Theaters in Hyderabad.

But then, the Exhibitors Pressmeet in Telangana Film Chamber revealed that it is not the issue of 22 Single Screens but all the Theaters in Nizam will not be screening Peddi if their demands are not met with.

Mythri currently has around 30 Theaters in their control in Nizam. So only these Theaters can screen the movie if the remaining Theaters are firm. Mythri bought Peddi Nizam rights for 63 Crore.

There are two deals, 58 plus five crore recoverable if there are any issues with hikes and premieres and if everything is there in place, the deal is 60 Crore NRA plus 3 Crore recoverable.

Either ways, huge money is riding on the film in Nizam. The Discussions in Chamber tomorrow will take place in very heated environment. It has to be seen if the meeting can really yield any favorable result.

Only plus in this entire episode is that all the Exhibitors are well-informed about the importance of Peddi for Theaters survival. Producers (Kilaru Satish and Mythri) have big money at stake and the other active producers who opposed Sirish Reddy and Asian Suniel know the film should work so that the alternate system will survive.

So, there needs to be some restraint on both the sides so that they can amicably solve this issue.

Active Producers are hoping that Chiranjeevi‘s intervention will solve the issue but it will be a big surprise that if the Pro-Exhibitors side did not think about it before starting this.
