After the advent of social media, celebrities have become the constant victims of online abuse and trolling.
They need to have a tough mental strength to deal with trolling. Star actress Rashmika said that over the years, she has become a punching bag for people, and with constant punching, she doesn’t feel the pain anymore.
In an interview with the Film Companion, Rashmika said that initially she was hurt badly by the trolls on her acting, relationship, and breakup. As she is not from a film background, everything was new to Rashmika. But over time, she started learning how to deal with online abuse.
“It gets suffocating, you find it so hard to breathe that you feel like, anything you do, people are looking at you and commenting on you. People are talking about your body, your skin, your relationship. So it’s like you’re stripped naked in front of so many people. And for a young girl, that’s not easy. But I learnt all of this by myself. You start becoming hard. You don’t end up being the punching bag for people,” she stated.
The 25-year-old actress says that she has become a rock in dealing with the trolls and doesn’t care about them anymore. “I am at a space where I can take it lighter, I can laugh about it. I think most of the stars get immune to all this. This pain doesn’t hurt them anymore. Because it is constantly punching and punching, till a point where the punching bag also says, ‘I’ll take whatever you give me’,” she further added.
