Sardar Udham Singh is the next much-anticipated movie in Bollywood with Vicky Kaushal essaying the titular role. Yesterday, the makers unveiled the first ever teaser of the film. And today, the actor took to social media to share the film’s second teaser which shows an important event in the life of Sardar Udham Singh.
The teaser shows a part of the historic significance where the headlines of Michael O’Dwyer being shot to death surfaces. Michael O’Dwyer was the Lieutenant Governor of Punjab, British India between 1913 and 1919. He was shot dead by Udham Singh in 1940 in London after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Sharing the teaser, Vicky wrote, “His name etched in our history, his mission shook the entire nation. It’s an incredible honour to step into the shoes of Sardar Udham Singh.” The teaser further portrays the clear image of Vicky in turbaned avatar.
To the unversed, Sardar Udham Singh was the revolutionary who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer in 1940 in Westminster, London. In 1919, Michael O’Dwyer sent troops to Jallianwala Bagh where they fired on a gathering of unarmed protestors. Udham Singh avenged the Jallianwala Bagh massacre by shooting Michael O’Dwyer two decades later and was later hanged for murder.
The film is directed by Shoojit Sircar and is slated to release on Amazon Prime Video on 16 October. The film was shot in Russia, UK, Ireland, Germany and North India.
