Mohanlal’s 5 films to have a direct OTT release!

Even though the theatres are opened across the country, many Indian films are still opting for direct OTT releases due to various reasons. Having one OTT release is okay but Malayalam star actor Mohanlal is going to have five direct OTT releases in the coming days. The biggie in this list is Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham.

Yesterday, the film’s producer Anthony Perumbaoor declared that Marakkar will have a direct OTT release soon. The movie was supposed to hit the screens on March 26, 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic has ruined the plans.

Since then, the makers tried to negotiate with exhibitors for a theatrical window of 21 days before the OTT release but the talks have failed. Eventually, it has been decided that the movie will have a direct digital release.

Anthony further added that he had taken the decision after holding talks with both Mohanlal and director Priyadarshan. Not only Marakkar, but four other Mohanlal’s films that are being bankrolled by Anthony are opting for a direct digital release.

They are Bro Daddy, 12th Man, Alone, and an untitled project with director Vysakh. With this move, Mohanlal has now officially become the star hero to have the most direct OTT releases. His last film Drishyam 2 also had a direct OTT release on Amazon Prime Video.
