Mohanlal-starrer Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham is one of the highly anticipated upcoming releases in the Malayalam film industry. This high-budget period drama is directed by Priyadarshan. It was initially supposed to hit the screens in early 2020 but got postponed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A few days back, the makers have decided to release the film directly on an OTT platform. The movie’s producer Anthony Perumbavoor also confirmed that the film will have a direct digital release. He further added that the decision has been taken after holding talks with Mohanlal and Priyadarshan.
In a sudden turn of events, Mohanlal has announced the other day that Marakkar will have a theatrical release on December 2. “It’s time to break the seal of that stunning surprise and we can’t contain the joy! You are about to experience one of the most marvelous visual treats in all its glory, from the place where its dashing frames deserve to be indulged in!” tweeted the actor.
“The much-awaited ‘Marakkar – Arabikadalinte Simham’ to be released in Theatres worldwide on the 2nd of December, 2021!” he further added.
It is still unclear why the makers have taken a sudden U-turn on their decision. Whatever might be the reason, fans and the trade circle are happy that Marakkar is releasing on the big screen, the format where it deserves to be showcased.
Marakkar features Keerthy Suresh, Manju Warrier, Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Pranav Mohanlal and Kalyani Priyadarshan in the other pivotal roles.
