Anil Ravipudi has carved out a niche for himself. Writer-turned-director has a good success record. Currently he is busy with the sequel for his sensational hit movie F2 titled F3. Anil Ravipudi who celebrates his birthday today interacted with media. Excerpts from his interview.
What do you say about your journey from an assistant director to a director?
This is my sixth birthday, after becoming director. There’s still a long way to go. The speciality of this birthday is, I’m working for F3, without taking any break. You will enjoy much more than F2. It would have been a hat-trick hit, if F3 arrives for Sankranthi. But, we came out of Sankranthi release as we want solo and massive release.
What’s the core story of F3?
The story of F2 revolves around wife and husband. However, the story of F3 revolves around money. Perhaps because of the kick they got with the success of F2, Venkatesh and Varun Tej performed exceptionally well. Sunil and Murali Sharma are the new addition. After doing a serious subject like Sarileru Neekevvaru, I wanted to make an out and out hilarious entertainer. F3 will definitely exceed all your expectations.
Do you feel risk in making sequel to a blockbuster?
At first, I had the fears. However, I got confidence of making much better movie, after finding a perfect concept.
What’s the status of the film’s shooting part?
As of now, close to 80% of the shooting part was completed. Small portion of talkie part and couple of songs are pending for shoot. The entire talkie part will be done by December.
Mannerisms are very common in Anil Ravipudi’s films. Do you enjoy them?
There is one or the other mannerism in my every film. However, I’m breaking this for F3, though there will be Anthega Anthega and Venky Asanam here and there. Nonetheless, the movie will have the activities of reacting according to situations. Audience may get bored if I opted for any mannerism again in F3.
Do you take inspirations from people around you for characters in your films?
There is definitely the influence of people around me. F3 has a special track which everyone will connect to. It’s my personal experience of kids in my family. Family audience will definitely relate to the sequence.
How do you manage so many actors on sets?
There were limited characters in F2. However, F3 has nearly 35 characters. We recently shot climax sequence. I wondered how EVV used to manage so many actors. Everyone will like F3’s climax portions. There is good understanding between Venkatesh and Varun Tej, as they already worked together in F2. I didn’t face any problems with them.
Why Venkatesh has been speaking highly about F3?
He recently watched first half of the movie and he said, “I thought, only I did better. But, it seems everyone has performed well.” Every character will be emphasized this time.
Do your heroes have health issues in the film?
Venkatesh will have night blindness, while Varun Tej will have the problem of stammering. However, these won’t disturb flow of the movie and are used in very few scenes.
Do you feel comfortable working with Dil Raju?
Dil Raju gives me full freedom, because I made only blockbusters till date. I usually don’t give full narration to Dil Raju. I brief him scenes, when we get time. After watching final copy, he tells me whether the film needs any changes.
What kind of music did Devi Sri Prasad give for F3?
Devi Sri Prasad gave two wonderful tunes for the film and he is yet to give two other tracks. He is presently busy with Pushpa.
Do you have plans of making a Pan India film?
F3 has a Pan India surprise in climax. I can’t reveal much, but you will feel surprised when you watch the portions. I feel very comfortable doing Telugu films. The story needs to have that potentiality to make a Pan India film. I may definitely try in future. I also have no plans of remaking F2 in Bollywood.
Will Balakrishna’s film will be in your style?
Many opine that, I can ably handle entertaining films. But, Balakrishna’s is not an entertaining film. In fact, we can’t make full length comedy film with a mass hero like Balakrishna. I’ll make film in his style like Pataas. I also clarify that, my film with Balakrishna is not Ramarao Garu. It’s a different script. I’ll work on this subject from January and plans are on to start the film in June or July.
