Back in September 2021, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department gave a clean chit to the Tollywood celebrities who were allegedly linked to the drugs scandal. This brought a huge relief among the celebrities who were investigated by the authorities.
Now we have a big twist in this case with the central agency Enforcement Directorate seeking records of the scandal from Telangana Excise Department. Apparently it is T-PCC chief Revanth Reddy who filed a petition in Telangana High Court seeking the central agency intervention in the drugs.
Taking up the petition, the High Court asked the Excise department to hand over the records which include call details, WhatsApp chat, witness statements and confession records. However it is learned that the Excise department did not fully furnish the details and so the ED knocked the High Court again.
The High Court summoned the Telangana government to direct the Excise department to disclose all the records to ED. The ED wants to examine all the records including digital records in view of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and reach a logical conclusion.
This means the Tollywood drugs scandal is not over yet until the ED gives a clean chit.
