Pooja Hegde Desires Strong Women-Centric Roles

Dusky Siren Pooja Hegde’s Radhe Shyam was released and the film is receiving mixed responses. Last week, the actress also grabbed massive attention for her chic fashion at the promotions of the film.

During the recent promotional event, the actress heaped praises for South Indian cinemas and lauded the filmmakers here for bringing strong female protagonists. The actress expressed the need for strong female characters in films and said, “As a girl, when I see Hema Malini beating goons in Seeta Aur Geeta, or when Gal Gadot plays Wonder Woman, and when Angelina Jolie does hardcore action in Mr and Mrs Smith, it empowers, excites, and encourages me to do something big”.

Pooja also added that she resonated with such strong characters and looked upon them. She expressed her desire to do a full-fledged action film one day and inspire the future generation. “I want more films to come up where girls are stronger and more resilient. I think that is not happening, but having said that, I’m glad that we are slowly moving towards the change,” Pooja concluded.

We have an umpteenth number of women-centric films in Tollywood alone and are glad to see how people are no longer used to heavily dependent male starrer movies. Now that Pooja expressed her desire, let’s see if any filmmaker offers her a powerful and one-of-its-kind role. Meanwhile, Radhe Shyam starring Prabhas and Pooja grabbed nationwide attention and despite its lukewarm reviews, the film is expected to collect Rs 45-50 crores in India on its first day.
