Tollywood Is The New Bollywood; Bolly Biggies In Dilemma

Ever since Baahubali came out, regional cinema has been completely dominating the Indian film industry. The Hindi films from Bollywood are completely sidelined and they are unable to compete with our South Indian films.

After the Baahubali series, we have seen KGF and Pushpa dominating the Indian box office. None of the Bollywood films has managed to score such big successes in the recent past.

It looks like this trend is now making Mumbai folks jealous. Let us take the example of the recent blockbuster RRR. Though the film is doing well across the nation, none of the Bollywood folks is talking about it.

Even Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt, who played pivotal roles in the movie, didn’t care to promote the film at least on their respective social media handles.

This proves that Bollywood celebrities are not at all happy with the way South movies are taking over the Indian film industry. If they are happy about RRR’s success, they would have tweeted about it, opined the industry sources.

People in Bollywood are in a dilemma in understanding the formula that South cinema is implementing to score hits. In South, the filmmakers are trying different genres and are scoring big hits at the box office. For instance, the recent hit Hridayam in Malayalam caught the attention of Bollywood, and Karan Johar bagged the rights for the same.

There are a few other films from Tamil and Kannada that are making big noise in Bollywood. At this moment, South Cinema is busy with multiple releases despite facing a pandemic. It has made the Bollywood filmmakers jealous. The pandemic affected Bollywood a lot and the star heroes are not very active in resuming the film shoots and announcing the release dates.

With the latest RRR sensation, everyone is now scratching their heads to understand how South cinema, and especially Tollywood is emerging as the New Bollywood.
