Amidst strong reports that the Centre would ease the restrictions and give more relaxations as part of Unlock 3.0 which allows to reopen the Cinemas, Gyms and a few others likely from August 1st, 2020, one of the leading movie theater chains in the country PVR Cinemas said it is all set to welcome back audiences after a hiatus. The cinema chain giant said it’s going to offer the cinematic experience in a safe environment.
PVR wrote on its official FB page, “After this small intermission, we can’t wait to welcome you back! We’re dedicated to delivering unmatched entertainment and safe experiences once again, very soon!”
It is learnt that PVR and some other retail cinema chains have made full arrangements and necessary precautionary measures. As instructed by the I&B and Home Ministry officials, theatres will allow audiences to occupy only alternate seats in a row and then the next row to be kept vacant and proceeding in this fashion throughout. This is expected to take a huge toll on cinemas and their revenues.
However, there is no other option for cinemas but to follow given the special conditions due to Covid-19 pandemic. The Cinemas should undergo thorough sanitisation after every show and should keep hand sanitizers at various spots in cinemas for the use of viewers. Thus, the maintenance cost and operations cost are likely to increase for the Cinemas.
