Newcomer director Sarath Mandava who has earlier worked as cameraman has now come up with the movie “Ramarao On Duty” featuring Raviteja in the lead. As the film is getting ready to hit cinemas this weekend, the director made some strong comments on Twitter reviews and comments of a newly released film, and they are not going well with the audience now.
Saying that ticket prices are not the reason for the audience not coming to theatres, Sarath opined that Twitter is the real culprit. Apparently, he commented, “Don’t see tweets on Twitter; Pittalu Rettalu Maatrame Vestai; Directly watch the film in theatres and you will know the talk by 2 pm anyway”. While God knows who is he actually targeting with his comments, Twitterati hasn’t taken these comments well.
More than any reviewers or film critics, actually common audience are staying quite active on Twitter these days, sharing their opinion on a newly released film straight away from theatres. If a film is good or bad, it is this audience who is actually trending certain hashtags and sharing the things inside. When a person is buying a ₹200 ticket and tweeting his 280 letters, surely nothing could stop him. And these groups are now eagerly waiting for Ramarao On Duty to release, such that they will give sharp feedback about the movie.
Critics are feeling that these comments made by the director might act against him if the film gets mixed talk. Of course, most of these audiences tweet only after the first show gets completed or during the show, and we wonder what happens in the case of Ramarao On Duty as this gang is now sharpening their writing power.
A Twitter user apparently wrote, “Sarath should have answered Twitter gangs with his film rather than blaming them for a film’s poor show”.
