kantara
Not even a single actor in the film is popular at the Bollywood box office nor any of them are familiar to the Hindi audience through YouTube or any other means. They haven’t even promoted the film with multiple press meets except by giving a couple of interviews with popular film critics. Despite all these odds, content spoke big, and that’s how Rishab Shetty’s “Kantara” has become a stunning success at the Bollywood box office.
This Thursday (Oct 20), Kantara’s Hindi version has collected almost ₹1.9+ crores nett, more than what it has collected on its opening day a week ago. The film collected ₹1.2+ crores on its debut Friday and managed to collect ₹3.5+ crores nett on its first Sunday. On a whole, Kantara clocked ₹15+ crores nett from the Bollywood box office in its first-week run. On that note, how much it would collect this Diwali weekend as holidays are declared from Saturday to Tuesday in many northern states?
Bollywood trade experts are hoping that the Saturday and Sunday collections of Kantara might touch ₹4-7 crores nett each day, as the buzz around the film has grown bigger now, and there is no other big competition is there at the box office right now except Ayushman Khurrana’s “Doctor G”. Looks like this Diwali weekend is going to be a goldmine for Kantara and the film might easily mint ₹10+ crores nett even in the worst case, while it might easily mint ₹15 crores nett again in the second week too.
