RRR Breaks 24-Yr-old Record In Japan

Ever since Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR was released in Japan, the big feat that everyone is looking forward to is if it will be able to beat the two decades-old record of Superstar Rajnikanth’s Muthu movie.

The latter collected JPY 400 million (₹22+ crore approx) in Japan, thus becoming the highest-grossing Indian film ever in the island nation. And here comes the mega feat pulled off by RRR now.

As per trade reports, RRR which was released at the Japanese box office on October 21st, not only opened to stunning numbers but finally disrupted the record being held for Muthu for two decades. Last week, RRR surpassed the mighty JPY 400 million mark and started chartering its course to a new record.

Before achieving this feat, the Rajamouli starrer beat the record of its creator, as Baahubali collected JPY 300 million at Japan BO, thus emerging as the second largest Indian film there. Now that RRR became the No1 movie, Muthu and Baahubali stand tall in the next two places.

RRR was released on more than 200 screens in Japan across 44 cities, and the film not only earned a mammoth collection but also immense love and fandom from the Japanese. Already they are making several tributes for the film, its leading men and director Rajamouli as well.
