Samantha Akkineni’s ambitious project under the direction of veteran filmmaker Singeetam Srinivasarao has been put on hold. 88-year-old Singeetam is fit and healthy as he had decided to wield the megaphone after longtime.
He had wanted to make the biopic of doyen of Carnatic music Nagarathnamma by roping in Samantha as the lead. Nagarathnamma was a cultural activist, singer and feminist in 19th Century. Singeetam has felt that Sam would be the perfect fit for the role. Samantha too had given her nod to the maker of classics like Aditya 369, Bhairava Dweepam.
Everything was ready, but the Covid has played the spoilsport. The film, which was supposed to go onto the floors on the eve of auspicious Vijaya Dasami, has now been deferred.
With the rising cases of Covid and with the likes of SP Balasubramanyam and several others affecting with Covid, 88-year-old Singeetam has decided not to come out till the Covid is subsided. Meanwhile, Singeetam’s sequel to Aditya 369 with Balakrishna was announced. However, it was also first put on hold and later got shelved.
