Shaakuntalam To Face ‘Dubbing’ Troubles

Samantha’s Shaakuntalam backed off from previous release dates as to avoid clashes with other biggies. Finally, Director Gunasekhar and Production partner Dil Raju locked the release date of April 14. PS 2 is all set for release at the end of April, so Shaakuntalam makers planned to make hay before the giant comes.

Meanwhile, two Tamil movies that are releasing in Telugu also emerged as a threat to Shaakuntalam. After a long gap, Lawrence is coming up with a mass action drama Rudrudu. Lawrence has a decent following in Telugu with his Kanchana series movies. Though ridiculed for his ‘over’ comedy, his movies collected big here.

Lawrence’s movie will be getting a big release in Tamil, so Shaakuntalam has to face the cut down in theaters in Tamil Nadu. Another actor is Vijay Anthony, who again is coming after a long gap. Vijay Anthony has not tasted success recently, and now he pinned hopes on his first big hit sequel Bichagadu. Vijay Anthony’s Bichagadu 2 is also releasing on April 14.

Though Bichagadu 2 is not having a huge hype, the release time can’t be predicted and it cannot be underestimated. Shaakuntalam has got no option except to fight these two dubbing films. Meanwhile, Nikhil’s Spy was supposed to release on April 14 but backed out looking to the rush on that date.
