People Possibly Don’t Have Money To Watch My Films: Rakul Preet

From the comparison between the content of South films to that of Bollywood, her marriage plans with Jacky Bhagnani, and her OTT releases, hits, and flops, Rakul Preet spoke on many things during her recent interview with the Times of India.

Rakul Preet was one of the top league actresses in Telugu but she is not being seen around here. Rakul moved to Bollywood and she had five releases in Hindi, Attack, Runaway34, Cuttputlli, Doctor G, and Thank God out of which none worked well at the box office. When asked about the same, Rakul Preet says her work cannot be defined by box office numbers.

When asked if box office numbers do make a difference when it comes to cementing her position in the industry, Rakul Preet strangely brings up the ticket rates issue and says people pick that one film in a month because they possibly don’t have money right now! ‘Films are being released every week, sometimes there are two releases. How do you expect the audience to come and watch every film? It’s an expensive affair,’ Rakul argues. Calling this as one of the factors, Rakul Preet says if people are not watching your film doesn’t mean it is bad, but could be because movie watching has become an expensive affair.

Rakul Preet says she feels it is more important to be loved by the audience and not the box office numbers or the movie verdict. About the comparison between the South films and the content Bollywood is coming up with, Rakul says there is no debate in that. Rakul opines that ‘regional’ films and Hindi cinema are both a part of the Indian industry and that if the film is good it will find its audience irrespective of the language.

Rakul’s Chattriwali is directly released to OTT and Rakul says it was never meant to be for theaters. Rakul reiterates that she thinks we are going through a re-correction phase currently and the box office alone does not define whether the film is good or whether you are good.

Speaking about her relationship with Jackky Bhagnani, Rakul Preet said she has nothing to hide. And about marriage, Rakul asks ‘given the films that she is shooting and the one Jackky is producing, where do you think we have the time for marriage?’

Apart from all other things, Rakul Preet’s theory on poor office results for her films linked to the moviegoer’s lack of money is attracting trolls big time.
