Message Is Clear: Don’t Imitate Baahubali And KGF

Like it happened in the case of Tollywood where one hero’s ’seema faction’ film turns out to be a hit and most of the others follow. And now this trend is being followed by the whole of India looking at films like Baahubali and KGF. Though it’s great to think about beating those movies, making movies that are similar to them in content is what fails to click.

Cut to Bollywood, Thugs Of Hindostan, Shamshera, Padmavat, Panipat, Samrat Prithviraj are some of the films that imitated the style and elevation game of Rajamouli’s Baahubali series. All these films ended up as duds at the box office, however. Some other films came from other southern industries too including Mani Ratnam’s PS1 and Mohanlal’s Marakkar, but they too haven’t seen such a huge success. And here goes next.

Imitating KGF, Sandalwood itself has come up with the movie Kabzaa which got panned by the critics. Forget about the movie doing well in other states, but in Kannada alone, the movie didn’t make headlines even though it features Upendra in the lead. To cover it up, now the makers have come up with an announcement that it made almost ₹100 crores collection, which is not possible in any way.

So the message is pretty loud and clear that imitating Baahubali and KGF won’t get you the results but something original like a Pushpa and Kantaara should be made, or they should craft a serious movie like The Kashmiri Files to woo the audience. And a couple of other films are in the line now to prove this point.
