Opinion: Idhi Saripodhamma Agent!

On the eve of Akhil Akkineni’s birthday, a third update in recent times has come out from the makers of “Agent” which is directed by talented Surender Reddy. So far, the release date got confirmed as April 28th, but there are no proper promotions to put the film on the pedestal. And there isn’t enough buzz as well for the movie as the songs also haven’t created a storm. 

Even on Akhil’s birthday eve, with the film’s release just 3 weeks away, surely the makers should have released a special teaser or something, but they have come out only with a poster. And that poster also features Akhil in the same ‘pic’ that we are seeing in the film circles ever since the ‘Agent’ was announced. With just three weeks before the release, and if the film has to get a magnificent opening, is this kind of promotion sufficient? Definitely not. 

In recent times, we have seen how the likes of Megastar Chiru for Waltair Veerayya and Nani for Dasara have promoted their films intensely by attending many events, giving interviews and starring in many TV shows as well. And Akhil’s Agent is still releasing just posters and wishes, but not bringing real-time action into the marquee to get massive attention for the movie. 

One wonders why Akhil and Surender Reddy are not showing interest in promotions of the movie at this point of time, and what is actually going on inside the mind of producer Anil Sunkara regarding the same.
