‘Dialogue Boost’ – Will Other OTTs Implement After Prime?

Amazon Prime launched a new feature called Dialogue Boost for its originals. The Dialogue Boost lets the viewers increase the volume of dialogue with respect to the background music and effects. This feature is available on a limited selection of originals.

Amazon built this feature for Prime Video customers who are hard of hearing but anyone can use the feature according to their personal listening preferences. Dialogue Boost feature needs to be implemented by all the OTT platforms. It analyzes the original audio in a movie or series and intelligently identifies points where dialogue may be hard to hear above background music and effects.

Earlier, a similar dialogue-boosting feature was made available by specialized audio equipment and some smart TVs too. Anyway, Prime Video claims to be the first to offer this.

The feature is now available worldwide on select English-language Amazon originals, including series ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,’ ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan’ and ‘Harlem,’ as well as films ‘The Big Sick,’ ‘Being the Ricardos’ and ‘Beautiful Boy.’ Amazon said it will add Dialogue Boost support for additional titles this year.
