Don’t speak in Hindi: Rahman to his wife

Music maestro AR Rahman was caught in a controversy for asking his wife to speak in Tamil instead of Hindi at an awards show. The video of the same has surfaced on social media and there are mixed reactions on it.

Apparently Rahman walked on the stage with his wife Saira Bhanu and the host of the show asked Saira Bhanu to speak a few words on Rahman’s achievements. Rahman was quick and he asked her to speak in Tamil instead of Hindi. However, the video suggests that Rahman was teasing his wife because she is not good at Tamil.

Later when Saira Bhanu takes the mic, she apologises to the viewers because she is not that fluent in Tamil. A couple of leading national media reported that Rahman forced his wife Saira Bhanu to speak in Tamil and also added that the music composer is against Hindi.

When fact checked, the video clearly shows Rahman was saying in a teasing tone and yes it was an award he received for a Tamil film at Tamil film awards. There is absolutely nothing wrong in it and it’s clearly propaganda to show the music composer in a bad light.

Rahman is a controversy free man and he usually doesn’t respond to any sort of criticism or negative comments made against him.
