Shaakuntalam and Prabhas Effect on HanuMan

Hanuman, the much-anticipated pan-Indian superhero film starring Teja Sajja, has been generating buzz since its teaser release. Initially slated for a May 12th release date, the producers of HanuMan have decided to push back the movie’s premiere due to the pressure of ensuring it is met with excellence.

Recent VFX for Tollywood movie teasers, like Shakuntalam and Adipurush have recieved criticism. However, when these same effects have been used in full-length movies or their trailers, the cheap quality of the effects has left viewers unimpressed. This was brought to light recently with both Shaakuntalam’s disastrous box office performance and the trolling of Prabhas’ Adipurush teaser due to its weak VFX. These events have seen the team behind HanuMan take extra caution as they fear that their own VFX may not measure up.

When producing a movie of the highest quality, stock VFX shots are simply not an option. This means that production teams need to take additional time to ensure their VFX work is up to professional standards before they set a new release date. Audiences are becoming more critical of movies with poor or unfitting VFX, particularly when it comes to big stars such as Prabhas and Samantha. As Hanuman features both Teja Sajja as the titular hero and director Prashanth Varma who have not yet established themselves within the industry, it is important that they take extra care to achieve high-quality production values.

Other than the VFX part, HanuMan release appears to have been impacted by Adipurush in a different way. Adipurush is based on Ramayanam and there won’t be any fictional sub stories in it. The production company is doing its best to take it to the next level with the movie coming out on June 16. This mammoth Adipurush promotions and hungama is sure to dominate HanuMan, which is again based on lord Hanuman in Ramayana. Adipurush enjoys a huge craze among the North audience due to the sentiment.

Also Teja Sajja is a known hero in Telugu but Prabhas’s stardom is multiple times bigger than that of Teja. So HumuMan is heard to be stepping back for these reasons and the sentiment of Adipurush also might help HanuMan during the latter’s release.
