In recent times, it has become a fashion that some big producers to bring Tamil and other dubbed movies to theatres when their own films are not hitting cinemas. When other big films are around, the release of these dubbed movies has become a headache, and we have seen it on last Sankranthi already. Here comes the latest snippet.
Right now, a big producer from Telugu tinsel town is holding negotiations to grab the rights to Tamil Superstar Vijay’s upcoming film Leo, which is being directed by the super talented Lokesh Kanagaraj and set for October 19th release. Guess what, even the two big Telugu films, Balayya and Anil Ravipudi’s Bhagavat Kesari as well as Raviteja’s Tiger Nageswara Rao are also set for the same time, as they have locked October 20th as the date, though haven’t announced officially. And in a day or two gap, it is most likely even Boyapati Sreenu and Ram Pothineni’s movie is also likely to hit cinemas in the same season.
Now, this big producer who has good control over theatres is trying to bring Vijay’s Leo to Telugu theatres with well-written agreements, theatre lock-ins, and much other stuff. Many are wondering why these producers lost ethics when it comes to bringing dubbed films as those projects will eat away the revenues of local movies. But then, with Telugu films also heading for pan-India release these days, surely Leo can’t be stopped. Let’s see what happens.
