Bloody Daddy: Failed In Tamil Then, Hindi Now

One of the most hyped films in recent times which has hit the OTT platform directly is none other than “Bloody Daddy” featuring Shahid Kapoor, which is directed by the talented filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar. However, the film failed to click as expected and the talk is not so good, while the hero’s acting is being praised by all. And that brings us to the question, of why a superhit film’s remake failed in India twice.

For the unknown, “Bloody Daddy” is a remake of the French film “Nuit Blanche” (Sleepless Night in English), which was released in 2011. Universal actor Kamal Haasan first laid his eyes on this movie and made it as Thoonga Vanam (Cheekati Rajyam in Telugu) in Tamil which was released in 2015, but the film failed to click. Now after eight years, Bollywood thought of remaking this movie and came up with “Bloody Daddy” which is not being hailed as a great film.

In fact, the film’s lone emotional banking point is the thread that the hero wants to save his son from a drug lord and it is all about the missing bag. This simple thread is not working big time though there are well-designed action sequences, both in Kamal’s Cheekati Rajyam and Shahid’s Bloody Daddy. At a time when people are going crazy about the action sequences of John Wick, these action sequences are not even close to that ‘wow’ factor. On top of that, intensity is missing in the screenplay along with giving an edge-of-seat thrill factor.

Well, we have to see how many more tinsel towns in India will remake this French action thriller anyway.
