“A Day Will Come When Films Are Made Without Shooting”

These days, it is becoming difficult to understand what is real and what is fake on social media. From movie posters to trailers and songs, everything looks so real that audiences often believe it without questioning it. Now latest example is the discussion around AI and filmmaking.

Recently AI videos related to Mahesh Babu’s Ramayana went viral and the visuals looked so realistic. So such content also shows how easily AI can create movie like scenes without a real shooting process.

Now director Sundar C has made some interesting comments about the same and future of filmmaking while promoting his upcoming devotional film Mahashakthi starring Nayanthara.

The director responded to criticism about the visual effects in the film’s promotional content. He revealed that the movie has more than 3,000 CGI shots but AI was used in only 15 of them. He also said that around 800 local Tamil technicians worked for more than a year to create the visuals.

Sundar C expressed disappointment over the negative comments, saying that people were ignoring the hard work of the technicians.

At the same time, he shared his thoughts about how AI could change the film industry in the coming years. He said, “There may come a time when films can be made without shooting.” He explained that actors may only need to give permission to use their appearance and voice, while AI could create the remaining scenes, locations and backgrounds.

Sundar C also explained why he walked out of the Rajinikanth project produced by Kamal Haasan’s production house. He said that managing such a big project would involve pressure and that he wanted to protect his creative freedom.

Meanwhile Sundar words on AI is making sense as really it’s becoming very difficult to find on social media which is real and which is not.
