Virupaksha is one of the biggest hits in Telugu this year. When the industry was running behind thrillers and comedies, director Karthik Dandu came up with a horror flick and scored a hit. It has been a long time since we saw a true-blue horror film in Telugu.
Virupaksha filled that void and became a successful venture at the box office. It collected more than 100 crores in its theatrical run and was also a big hit in the OTT arena. After this success, Karthik became an overnight star.
Overwhelmed by the film’s success, the makers decided to gift a luxurious Mercedes Benz car to Karthik. The director took to social media to share the news. “Virupaksha is a lifetime memory for me… I would like to extend my gratitude to my guru @aryasukku sir, my hero @IamSaiDharamTej and my producers @BvsnP sir and @dvlns sir for this wonderful gift…,” he tweeted.
Karthik is expected to announce his next project soon. Virupaksha featured Sai Dharam Tej and Samyuktha Menon in the lead roles. Sukumar Writings and SVCC jointly bankrolled the project.
