‘Scam 2003: The Telgi Story’ is one of the much-awaited TV shows and the makers dropped the trailer of the same. The trailer promises to be another riveting addition to their ‘Scam’ franchise. The trailer offers a glimpse into the life of Abdul Karim Telgi, portrayed by Gagan Dev Riar, who played a central role in the 2003 stamp paper counterfeiting case, one of the biggest financial scams in India’s history.
The trailer opens with strong dialogues and remarks labeling Telgi as a ‘khotta sikka’ (fake coin), ‘snake,’ and ‘smart’.
Gagan Dev Riar’s portrayal of Telgi is charismatic and intriguing, as he confidently declares that stamp paper is the key to India’s economy. The story delves into the events surrounding the 2003 stamp paper counterfeiting case, which involved fraudulent activities amounting to nearly 30,000 crores.
Alongside Gagan Dev Riar, the talented cast includes Mukesh Tiwari, Sana Amin Sheikh, Bharat Jadhav, and Shaad Randhawa. Produced by Applause Entertainment and Studio NEXT, the series is helmed by renowned director Hansal Mehta.
‘Scam 2003: The Telgi Story’ is the second installment in the ‘Scam’ franchise, following the highly acclaimed ‘Scam 1992’, which focused on the life of stockbroker Harshad Mehta and featured Pratik Gandhi in the lead role.
The series is based on real events and draws inspiration from Sanjay Singh’s novel ‘Telgi Scam: Reporter’s ki Diary.’ Sony LIV will premiere the series on September 1st.
