The makers of Kamal Haasan’s upcoming film, helmed by Mani Ratnam, had dropped the first glimpse video on the 6th of November. This confirmed that the film has been titled ‘Thug Life.’ This video has now sparked a series of discussions on social media.
Netizens are sharing a collage that juxtaposes visuals from the Thug Life glimpse and the 2019 Hollywood sci-fi thriller, Rise of Skywalker.
In the collage, we see Kamal Haasan’s imagery in Thug Life bears a striking resemblance to the protagonist in Rise of Skywalker. The costumes, color palette, and shot composition look remarkably similar in the snaps from both films.
This has led to speculation on social media about whether Thug Life is a copy or inspired from Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, given the uncanny resemblance. Some suggest that the Thug Life team has replicated the visual presentation of the Hollywood visual extravaganza.
Mani Ratnam and his creative team has remained tight-lipped about this development while the narrative spreads like wildfire on social media. What’s certain is that Thug Life shares a striking visual similarity with Rise of Skywalker.
As for Thug Life, the Mani Ratnam directorial has Kamal playing Rangaraya Sakthivel Nayakkar, and it is in the early stages of production. AR Rahman is composing the music for the film, which is being mounted on a huge scale. Dulquer Salmaan has come onboard for the film.
