Kota Bommali PS Reflects Society & Characters Will Haunt You – Teja Marni

Kota Bommali PS is directed by Teja Marni. The film stars Srikanth, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Rahul Vijay, Shivani Rajasekhar and others. The film is bankrolled by Bunny Vass and Vidya Koppineedi under GA2 pictures. Bhanu Pratapa and Riyaz Chowdary are acting as co producers for the film. It is releasing tomorrow and director Teja Marni interacted with media about the film and shared intriguing things.

The film doesn’t any relation with current political situations in both Telugu states. There are few harsh realities about the system which are still relevant to the political situations. We wanted to tell “How people are corrupted and the system?” And this is the main point of our story. There’s no political agends in Kota Bommali PS.

He said, “As a filmmaker you want to tell a story that resonates with your beliefs and personally I’m very socially responsible and my films will reflect that. Cinema doesn’t change anyone but it will have an influence and make them think. So we need to use visual medium carefully because it registers more.”

He said, Few stories must be told, and I feel Kota Bommali PS has such content. What I appreciated about the story was the irony that “people in the system are getting slaughtered by the same system”. Everyone is facing the same situation. We merely grabbed the soul and added our nativity and emotions, so it’s not a 100% copy remake.

Talking about the remakes, he said “I don’t agree the statement “remakes doesn’t work.” Lot of blockbusters are remakes but due to OTT, the audience got exposure to world cinema. Audience encouraging remakes and they are comparing with the original. We do remakes to tell a good story to more people and if audience comes with fresh perspective without any comparisons they will be engaged till the end.”

Talking about the difficulties during shoot, “We took lot of care on aesthetics and you can observe that in my previous films too. The drama, locations and all the other elements will give you the feeling of Srikakulam setup. We shot the film in Naxals area where transportation was very tough. The outdoor schedule was very tough for the entire team.”

Talking about actors, he said “There is a reason why the artists were chosen for the roles. Srikanth garu is playing a serious role with a quirky side. For me, Rahul Vijay was an obvious option. Shivani Rajashekar was cast in the part because I wanted a natural and simple Telugu girl. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar garu, Murali Sharma garu, and all of the other characters were chosen based on their image. The characters will haunt you after the film.”
