Recently we have seen some dance numbers coming from the films of happening heroes, and they all have one particular star heroine in common. Many are wondering if these songs are worth the hype, but then, while the popularity of the song depends on the tune, the making of such a song is actually costing a bomb for the makers.
Even if subtract the remuneration of the leads, each of these songs is said to be costing nearly ₹2.5+ crores for the makers. First of all, these songs feature some colourful sets that cost anywhere between ₹90-100 lakhs, including the art setups, studio rents and making charges. At the same time, the choreographers are said to be charging nearly ₹10 lakhs for these dance numbers. Cut to the other cast, only the cost of roping in foreign and Mumbai-based dancers who are sleek, slender, and sexy is said to be costing nearly ₹90+ lakhs. While the charge of each dancer is ₹10K/day, their total charge for 3-4 days, flights, accommodations and food add up to that hefty budget.
If we add the other costs like costumes, designer charges, caravan rents, men and materials, and other unseen expenditures, the total song costs nearly ₹2-2.5 crores if a big producer’s revelation is anything to go by. In the end, if the song fails to work, there is no way this expenditure is useful, but makers feel that if they don’t spend this much, the song won’t look appealing. That’s how commercial cinema is, at the moment!
