Of course, while the masses are embracing the ‘Animal’ wave, with the film growing close to ₹800 crores gross worldwide box office collection, an elite section is criticising the film for its toxic masculinity. Joining that brigade is none other than the cinematographer of films like Dhanush’s Captain Miller and Superstar Vijay’s upcoming movie.
Siddharth Nuni, who has cranked movies like Lucia and U-Turn in Kannada, is now shooting #Thalapathy68, but he is in the news now for criticising Animal. Taking to his Instagram page, the cinematographer stated that Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal is a problematic film that did something like glorifying the Nazis. He also stated that Ranbir Kapoor’s mindset in the movie is abusive to the minds of the audience, and complained about the violence, abusive relationships and how women are rendered as mute bystanders in the movie.
He also added a word about collections too- “The fact that this film has collected so much money reflects the social condition of the country we live in? And for an A-rated film, I have seen young children in the audience at a popular multiplex in Hyderabad. Where is the censorship and the responsibility to protect young minds?”.
Guess what, some Tamil fans who are hurt in the Jawan Vs Animal debate, are now backing this cinematographer big time to take a dig at ‘Animal’ further.
