What’s The Good & Bad For Dunki?

Moviegoers across the country are waiting with bated breath to witness the box office clash of KGF director Prashanth Neel and Baahubali actor Prabhas’ much-anticipated action saga ‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire’ and Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan’s heartwarming tale ‘Dunki’ which are releasing this week in a gap of one day.

While the hype on Salaar is quite humongous because of the heady combination and the mass genre, Dunki is banking on Shah Rukh Khan’s charisma and Raj Kumar Hirani’s track record. Going by the advances all over the country, Salaar is set to take a thumping opening on December 22nd. Meanwhile, the makers of Dunki are hoping that the clever strategy to release their film one day before Salaar will ensure a strong start.

The biggest question is can Dunki withstand the massive hype surrounding Salaar? There are both advantages and disadvantages for Dunki and let’s find out them.

As Dunki will occupy the majority of the screens on December 21st due to its solo release, the openings will be impressive across all territories in North India despite the release of Hollywood biggie ‘Aquaman: The Fallen Kingdom’. In South India also, Dunki will take a decent start as it will get a good number of screens on the first day.

On the flip side, Dunki will need to get unanimous reviews and positive word of mouth to brave the mind-blowing hype around Salaar. As Salaar has been carrying tremendous reports and sensational buzz, the openings will be earth-shattering. So, if Dunki fails to garner strong reports, it will be replaced immediately in many centers with Salaar due to its craze among audiences.

Keeping aside the hype, the teams of both films are highly confident about their success. Shah Rukh Khan is riding a crest of success wave with back-to-back biggest blockbusters in his career in the form of Pathaan and Jawan. On the other side, Salaar has been creating ripples despite Prabhas’ poor form in recent times with a string of flops.

Trade pundits say that Dunki will have an uphill task at the box office with Salaar storm ready to hit the box office.
