As per the buzz being spread by various box office trackers and the reports published in a few newspapers, it is coming out that currently, the Telugu film industry is going through a crunch. While many big productions like Megastar’s Vishwabhara, NTR’s Devara, and Sithara Entertainment’s multiple projects are currently being shot in Hyderabad and other parts of Telugu states, here is what the buzz says.
Reports are doing rounds that some of the mid-range movies that have been shot for nearly a month by some leading production houses, are now given a scheduled break. Usually, our filmmakers avoid Summer and finish most shootings in March and April itself.
However the lack of cash flow due to political situations in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and the rejection of many proposals by OTT platforms which actually give advance amounts. Also, the shortage of funds could be attributed to many leading banks walking away from giving finance to films these days, while some banks avoid giving loans before the financial year’s closure.
Though this phenomenon happens every year, it looks like this time Tollywood is going through some serious crunch. While some producers denied that there is no such crunch and shootings are going smoothly, some producers agreed that they have temporarily paused the shoots to recoup money before proceeding again.
