Hollywood Debut: Sobhita Fans Are Not Happy

Sobhita Dhulipala, a name that has glittered on the Indian entertainment scene ever since her glamorous stint as Miss India runner-up, has consistently captivated audiences with powerful and glamorous portrayals in Telugu films, Hindi movies and captivating performances in web series. The Telugu girl’s recent foray into Hollywood with the action-comedy “Monkey Man” marked a momentous occasion.

But it seems the initial excitement has curdled into disappointment among her fans. As Sobhita was seen as a promising addition to the cast of “Monkey Man”, fans envisioned a character that would allow her to showcase her talent on the global stage.

However, their expectations seem to have fallen short. Reports suggest that Dhulipala portrays a call girl caught in the orbit of a wealthy and influential brothel in the film.

Her role, reportedly limited to a few dialogues and scenes, lacks a character arc and a romantic storyline with the film’s protagonist, Dev Patel. This has left many fans feeling short-changed.

On the other hand, “Monkey Man” itself has received a lukewarm reception from critics. While some praise the film’s action sequences, others criticize its predictable plot and underdeveloped characters.

Meanwhile, the film’s Indian release was kept on hold and it might release after a couple of months, while it got released on OTT already for the UK and USA regions.
