GOG Earns Big At the Box Office

After a dry spell for more than two months, theatres in Telugu states are now getting back on track with three new releases. The prominent and the most-anticipated released among those movies is Vishwak Sen-starrer Gangs of Godavari. This Krishna Chaitanya directorial has hit the screens on May 31.

As it featured a prominent star cast and was bankrolled by big production house Sithara Entertainment, Gangs of Godavari managed to open big at the box office. It collected a share of around Rs. 3-3.5 crore on the first day, recovering 40% of the stakes. In spite of mixed reviews, the movie held well at the box office during the weekend as well.

It collected a share of around Rs. 1.5-1.6 crore on Saturday and Rs. 1.9 crore on Sunday. On the whole, Gangs of Godavari earned a share of around Rs. 6.6 crores during the first weekend with 80% recovery. As the other two releases are performing below par, trade analysts are predicting Gangs of Godavari to continue its decent run and break even at the box office very soon.

The film features Neha Shetty and Anjali as the female leads. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music for this movie.
