Friday Winner, Maharaja!

Until about ten days ago, the Telugu audience was largely unaware of Vijay Sethupathi’s film titled Maharaja. Vijay Sethupathi came to Hyderabad to promote the film and spoke about Pawan Kalyan. It is when everyone came to know that a film with the title exists. But, today, the film satisfied the makers.

The decision to buy the dubbing rights and release it in Telugu simultaneously was made only, ten days before the film’s release. Despite the less time, Vijay Sethupathi promptly traveled to Hyderabad, staying for three to four days. He actively participated in all the promotional activities. He gave interviews and also took part in some videos shot by Youtubers.

Maharaja was released yesterday and received a warm reception from the audience. Despite its serious theme, director Nithilan’s engaging screenplay captivated viewers. Positive reviews are gradually spreading from social media to the general public.

The critics also loved the film and the word of mouth is highly positive. Hence, the team is optimistic that the weekend will bring in substantial numbers, as the mass audience is starting to show interest. With a two-week gap until the release of Kalki 2898 AD, there is a good chance Maharaja will maintain its stronghold at the box office.

On the other hand, in Tamil Nadu, the film is being touted as one of the year’s biggest hits.
