People Called Me Second Hand: Samantha

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is one of the talented actors in Telugu who made her debut with Ye Maya Chesave. She later attained stardom and married Naga Chaitanya Akkineni. However, their marital life ended with a divorce. In a recent interview, Samantha revealed how she found it hard to cope with divorce, as many called her Second Hand and Used.

“There is still a lot of shame and stigma attached to divorce, especially for a woman. When it happened, I was called secondhand, used, and wasted life. I get a lot of comments like that. You’re pushed into a corner where you are supposed to feel like you’re a failure that you were once married and now you’re not. And I do believe it can be really hard for families and girls who’ve gone through,” she said, with an emotional tone.

Later, Samantha said that she accepted it and moved on. “Initially, it really hurt. I decided to flip it. I decided to own it. I am separated, I’m divorced. Things haven’t been a fairytale. But that does not mean I sit in a corner, cry about it and never ever have the courage to live again. It wasn’t any kind of revenge or anything. It really wasn’t a ginormous gesture. It was that – yes it has happened. I know it, and I can’t hide from it. This doesn’t mean my life ends there. It begins where it ends.”

Samantha admits that she has grown so much now and is currently happy in her life. “I’m very happy right now. I’ve grown so much, and I am doing incredible work, and I’m looking forward to the next stage in my life,” she remarked.

Samantha and Naga Chaitanya entered the wedlock in 2017 at a destination wedding in Goa. The couple later got separated in 2021. Now, Naga Chaitanya is all set to marry Sobhita Dhulipala next month.
