Jagan Sings EVM Tune Again

It has been nearly six months since Andhra Pradesh’s electoral roll was completed and the public mandate was delivered overwhelmingly in favor of the NDA alliance. But Jagan Mohan Reddy who slipped from 151 seats to 2019 to 11 this year, still appears to be in a delusion about what happened.

In the last six months, not once has Jagan called his ex ministers and party think tank to discuss the reasons behind the shambolic defeat. But if there’s one thing that he had been doing continuously, it would be blaming the EVMs for his defeat.

Even today, on the occasion of 75th Constitution Day of India, Jagan blatantly pushed his EVM narrative.

“The cornerstone of Democracy is electing the public representatives. Widespread concern across the nation about the functioning of EVMs prompts us to question the veracity of EVMs and to ask ourselves why we should not go to the polls with ballot papers as is the practice in a majority of countries across the world.” Jagan tweeted.

The narrative is being set in such a way that Jagan lost the election only because of the EVMs and there’s the demand to bring back paper ballots.

NDA leaders are hitting back by saying that Jagan won with the same EVMs in 2019 and he had no issue with them then but now that he lost in 2024, he is pointing fingers at them.

While one would expect a young and intelligent leader like Jagan to quickly compete the data and analyze the results for the defeat and find mistakes from within, the delusional talk on EVMs is not serving any purpose. The longer Jagan lingers with this mindset, the more damage will be done for YCP due to lack of consolidated action for the next election.
