The focal point of almost every film-related discussion in the Telugu states now is about Pushpa 2. The film is going strong at the domestic and also the overseas box office, and particularly so in the Hindi-speaking markets.
Coming to the point of discussion now, veteran actor Rajendra Prasad made a very sly remark at a film event today as he appeared to be taking a dig at Allu Arjun’s characterisation in Pushpa 2.
“Ninna kaka monnna choosam… vaadevado chandanam donga, cinema lo hero anta. Hero ki definitions maripoyayi” were the exact words from Rajendra Prasad’s mouth.
While Rajendra Prasad didn’t necessarily name Pushpa 2 in his statement, it is easily to connect the dots. Social media users are likening the veteran actor’s comments to the Pushpa character and remaking that he indeed took a dig at the red sandalwood smuggler character that Allu Arjun plays in the film. While saying so, Rajendra Prasad even refers to his own films like Ladies Tailor, Appula Apparao, April 1 Vidudhala to mention the lead characters are taken from the society and incidents happening in it.
Rajendra Prasad’s intention might be to say the definition of a ‘hero’ in films changed and that he has been playing such hero characters from the times when the conventional ‘hero’ is a good strong gentleman. However, Rajendra Prasad’s words appear to have not gone so well with a section of people on social media.
