Nandamuri Balakrishna being conferred with the Padma Bhushan award is a moment to cherish and celebrate for the entire Nara and Nandamuri families. In light of this, the family members are over the moon about the significant recognition given to Balayya.
Incidentally, the main members of the Nara and Nandamuri families issued a front-page ad celebrating the recognition bestowed upon Balayya by the Government of India.
This front-page ad highlights Balayya’s incredible contributions as a cancer hospital owner saving lives, as a mass hero, a father, a leader, a grandfather, and many other roles. This ad was issued by the members of the Balayya family tree.
However, one key point about this ad has sparked a lot of talk on social media: the absence of the names of NTR and Kalyan Ram. Some people are taking offence at the omission of these two members from the Nandamuri family.
That said, this could be more of a logistical choice rather than a personal one, and here’s why:
Fundamentally, only the names of Balayya’s immediate family (wife, son, two daughters, and their immediate family members) are printed on the ad, while the names of the children of Balayya’s brothers & sisters are logistically omitted. The names of Balayya’s siblings are included in the ad, but not those of their children.
If the names of the children of all 11 of Balayya’s siblings were included, it would easily take up more than half of the page. Moreover, the ad would then look like a forced attempt to display the entire family tree, which would appear cluttered and unnecessary.
It is important to note that not just NTR and Kalyan Ram, but also the children of Balayya’s other siblings are omitted from the ad for logistical reasons. The intention behind the ad is to keep it generic and focused, rather than trying to showcase the entire family tree in one publication, which would look forced and out of place.
Regardless, certain outlets are drawing comparisons and claiming that the names of NTR and Kalyan Ram were deliberately ignored. But, as with anything related to the Nandamuri family, such negative talk is inevitable and just part of the public discourse.
At the end of the day, the situation remains amicable, with both NTR and Kalyan Ram happily wishing their “Bala Babai” right after he received the Padma Bhushan award. This reflects a natural bond, and as long as that understanding exists, any other theories will remain just that—trash talk.
