The state government recently introduced the prestigious Gaddar Awards in honor of the legendary folk singer and activist Gaddar. In a significant development, veteran actress Jayasudha has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Gaddar Awards jury committee.
A jury meeting was held under her leadership, where key discussions took place regarding the award selection process. Prominent producer and FDC Chairman Dil Raju also took part in the meeting. He emphasized the importance of maintaining complete impartiality in the selection of awardees.
The Telangana government has introduced the Gaddar Awards, named after the late revolutionary Gaddar, to honor excellence in various fields, including cinema, literature, and arts. These awards aim to recognize outstanding contributions and are set to replace the former Nandi Awards.
Announced by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in early 2024, the Gaddar Awards are intended to be presented annually on January 31, coinciding with Gaddar’s birth anniversary.
The awards encompass various categories, including Feature Films, National Integration Films, Children’s Films, Environmental/Historical/Heritage Films, Debut Feature Films, Animated Films, Social Impact Films, Documentary Films, Short Films, and Individual Awards for Artists and Technicians.
